Surviva liferafts incorporate the latest innovations in design and manufacturing techniques to provide a range of optimum quality, durable, cost effective, liferafts. Available in either throw-over or davit launched models, Surviva liferafts are suitable for use on all types of commercial and military marine craft.

Constructed from lightweight polyurethane (PU) coated nylon material which has been laser cut and high frequency welded, Surviva liferafts benefit from the use of both these techniques, which have been pioneered by RFD for the manufacture of liferafts.

The RFD quality-management system is approved to BS EN ISO 9001 1994 and the Surviva range of liferafts are manufactured to the highest standards and are renowned for their uncompromising quality.

Safety & Stability

Surviva liferafts incorporate many significant design features to ensure maximum raft safety and stability including weighted water pockets on the underside, as well as having a uniquely designed, anti-tangle drogue. Both of these features help stabilise the raft, even when unladen.

Surviva rafts also include a righting ladder to assist should the raft become inverted during deployment in extreme conditions.

Capable of withstanding prolonged exposure to the elements, Surviva liferafts have a highly visible, self erecting canopy which is double skinned for optimum insulation.

Supported by a strong arch, the canopy is designed to withstand the impact of survivors jumping aboard as well as gale force winds. The canopy is fitted with an automatic drycell sea light which can be turned off in daylight. The light is designed to meet the SOLAS two mile visibility requirement and to exceed the recommendation for 12 hour battery life.

The advanced design, easy close, wrap-over door provides a weather tight seal.

Buoyancy Chambers

Buoyancy chambers on Surviva liferafts are made from PU coated fabric which make them highly durable and impervious to corrosion compared to those made from rubber based fabrics. This reduces the need for repairs and offers considerable savings in servicing costs.



 

SOLAS Approved Emergency Packs

Surviva liferafts come complete with either A or B type emergency packs which conform to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974, Chapter III and Amendments 1983.

Both packs contain emergency provisions for survival at sea, for example, first aid kit, food, water and other items for basic maintenance and improved survivability. Pyrotechnics are included to attract attention during search and rescue operations or when high visibility is required during darkness or adverse weather conditions.

Aid detection of the raft during search and rescue operations.
(3) Weighted Water Pockets
Rapidly filling, weighted water pockets significantly improve raft stability.
(2) Drycell Sea Light
Improves chances of detection in poor visibility and at night.
(4) Anti-Tangle Drogue
The unique design of the antitangle drogue further aids raft stability.
